When you ask around what they think a disc jockey is, you might get several answers from them. That is because there is more than one type of disc jockeys or DJs around, depending on their classification. Now, let’s get into each type of DJ.
Mobile DJ – You see them at events like weddings, dances, banquets, church ceremonies and other types of event you can think of. Their job is to organize make sure that the audience gets to listen or dance to the playlist that are pre-recorded. The mobile DJ are literally mobile because they travel from one place to another, transporting their sound system and DJ equipment with them.
Club DJ – When you go to clubs, bars or discos, you see them performing their club beat mixing music talent in front of a live audience. Aside from the beat mixing and beat matching, they bring the crowd to a party energy level. If mobile DJs have mobile equipment, Club DJs use hired equipment.
Radio DJ – They play music to radio listeners. They select music from the play list and sometimes take in requests. They also introduce new music when possible. Nowadays, radio DJs don’t just play music for the audience, they also come up with interactive shows, celebrity interviews and even contests with actual prizes.
Hip Hop DJs – Last but not the least, the hip hop DJs. They create their own music by using turntables and DJ mixers. They back up the emcees by selecting and playing specific music.
